THE "NEW" MESSAGE

The information below may change somewhat before the morning of the 15th, depending on expected crowd size (and other variables, known and unknown) but right now, on Thursday, Sept 6, nine days before the event, we’re planning on a three-stage message, with two “morph” moves.

We’re going to start with “IMPEACH!” and then rearrange our bodies into “REASON:” and lastly into “TREASON!” Hundreds of us will actually get up and move to another location in the lettering. Some of us will make a short move, some of us will move 100 yards or more. Please note that the letters E and A (also the P, which will add a leg to become an R) will stay in the same spot throughout the entire event. So if you are disabled or not particularly agile, please choose your spot inside one of those letters, lie back, and watch the world scurry by.

ARRIVAL

Please arrive at the site by 1 pm, take a flyer from a volunteer, read it, and get yourself (and your crew?) ready for action. There will be signs identifying each letter. If you have any questions, ask one of the “letter captains” – they’ll be easy to find.

By 1 pm, the message “IMPEACH!” will already be outlined on the grass, just as it was in the sand at Ocean Beach at Beach Impeach I and II – but this time it’ll be outlined in either chalk or rope or string.

By 1:30, we’ll all have chosen our spots where we’ll lie down the instant the helicopter shows up. Helicopter’s arrival is scheduled for 2 pm, and the helicopter (always coming from Oakland) was very prompt at both I and II.

When the photographers radio down to tell us that they’ve got good IMPEACH images, we’ll be ready for the first morph.

FIRST “MORPH”

We’ll rearrange ourselves out of the demand “IMPEACH!” and then change to : “REASON:” (Your instructional flyer, and your letter captain will have specific details on the 15th.)

When the helicopter radios that they’re done with “REASON:” we’ll make the second morph.

SECOND (and last) MORPH

We’ll rearrange ourselves into the answer: “TREASON!”

Some people may have trouble with this word. I have looked up the definition of “treason” in three different dictionairies, and each carries a definition similar to this one: “the crime of betraying one’s country.”

To me, betrayal / treason is exactly what we in the Impeachment Movement believe has been happening at the highest levels of our government. To ask whether or not we have been betrayed by this government is, to most of us… well, not even a question.

THE END

We may actually see more than one helicopter above us during the event – at Beach Impeach I, ABC News put up its own helicopter, and at Beach Impeach II another news chopper showed up just as we’d disbanded. We would love to see a flock of them up there at Beach Impeach III.

When the last helicopter has flown off, the event is over. Time to pick up any trash, go home, and watch the news with our fingers crossed.
